Five police officers were asked to leave a Starbucks, located in Tempe AZ, after a customer complained to a barista that the presence of the police officers “made them feel unsafe” according to reports.
Apparently, the five officers were also paying customers, so I am curious about the logic that moved the barista to ask the police to leave instead of the customer who complained about their presence. Five customers have more weight that one, one would think… plus, what does it say about someone when they say the police make them uncomfortable? Was there a warrant out for their arrest? Were they thinking about robbing the place?
This is a fairly new report so maybe Starbucks corporate will issue some kind of explanation for this odd behavior. If not, I suppose the humane and sensible thing to do would be to cease and desist doing business with all Starbucks facilities, in order to send the message that such blatant hatred for our public servants is not something we will tolerate. Starbucks is a gigantic, multinational business and if they think they can treat public servants this way, they need to know and understand it is not acceptable.
